Braes of Glenlivet is now known as Braeval to avoud confusion with its big sister, Glenlivet. The whisky is designed to augment sine if parent company´s blends and has never been officially bottled as a single malt. Some also claim this is the highest altitude distillery in Scotland.
This first-fill Bourbon barrel is remarkably balanced after its 23 years, with a gloriously complex nose of crème Brûlée, vanilla fudge and burnt caramel. Water brings out fresh melon and cinnamon, The palate is wonderfully fresh, with vibrant fruit and gooseberry jam emerging with the addition of water. Soft lychee, some topicality and cloves are also on show. The long, lingering finish offers cinnamon, vanilla fudge and praline.
