The British Royal Navy has had a 300 year long tradition of serving rum to its sailors. That tradition ended on July 31, 1970 – the day known as Black Tot Day. The remaining rum from that era has since been resting in the old warehouses of the British Royal Navy.
Blended in the 1960s by the navy blenders, this example has been imported by Mac Y A/S and released in a very limited and exclusive run of 5 cl samples in Nov. 2019.
We know very little about the actual origins of this rum. Other than it has been blended in the 1960s, the rum itself could very well be of much earlier origin, consisting of rum from the early British Colonies - Jamaica, Barbados, and Guyana. Evident from the colour, the nose, and the flavour, this is very old rum and without a doubt a liquid piece of Navy Rum History.
